The San Francisco 49ers have been atrocious the last few season, and many of the players have been abysmal when it comes to creating an impact on the field. As the 49ers look to rebuild, drafting will prevail to be the most crucial part of this process. Today, I will post a seven round mock draft on who I think the 49ers should select with each pick. I used http://www.WalterFootball.com to determine who would be available at what time!
1st Round (2nd Overall): QB Deshaun Watson, Clemson University
The 49ers need a superstar quarterback that they could build around. Deshaun Watson is the superstar quarterback to build around! I don’t want to get too into detail about Watson since I already wrote an entire article on him.
2nd Round (34th Overall): CB Jalen [Teez] Tabor, University of Florida
Jalen Tabor is an insanely underrated cornerback with star potential. The 49ers have weak cornerbacks, so Tabor would become a number one corner for the 49ers right off the bat.
3rd Round (66th Overall): WR Dede Westbrook, University Of Oklahoma
The 49ers have a need for wide receivers, especially since they are apparently shopping ex-Baltimore Raven Torrey Smith. Dede Westbrook is a potential star receiver who plays like Amari Cooper. He would be our number one receiver right away if Torrey Smith were to depart from San Francisco. He would fit well with Desean Watson.
DRAFT TRADE (Trade Torrey Smith to the Tennessee Titans for the 83rd Overall Pick)
A way to get something out of Torrey Smith, who has become useless to the 49ers who are entering the rebuilding process.
3rd Round (83rd Overall): TE Jordan Leggett, Clemson University
Why not pair Desean Watson up with one of his favorite targets in college. These two already have chemistry, and the 49ers could use Leggett and Vance McDonald in two tight end sets, which lessens our need for receivers.
4th Round (98th Overall): WR Malachi Dupre, Lousiana State University
I see Dupre as a potential superstar or bust. Dupre has great upside but was very inconsistent in college. Dupre is a good fit to go next to Westbrook, and he would not play for the slot with us.
DRAFT TRADE (Trade Future 4th and future 6th and this years 7th for the 106th pick)
This year’s draft class is better than next year’s draft class.
4th Round (106th Overall): RB Wayne Gallman, Clemson University
Gallman is good runningback who would be our number two back. Since Gallman is not an injury-prone running back, he would be a great backup for Hyde, who gets injured constantly. Gallman would get to play with former teammates Desean Watson and Jordan Leggett, which would help the team’s chemistry.
5th Round (129th Overall): LB Ben Boulware, Clemson University
Another Clemson Tiger off the board. Team chemistry is very important for a team, so stacking up on one of the best teams in college is a good idea. Boulware is also an elite Linebacker who can play inside or outside, although he is better inside. Ray Ray Armstrong can move to OLB so Boulware can play next to Bowman.
6th Round (170th Overall): DT Ryan Glasnow, University of Michigan
Glasnow is an underrated run stopper who could help the 49er’s run game immensely. If Glasnow drops to the 6th round, he is must get for the 49ers. He can make an instant impact.
